People who appreciate the art of sculpture are able to see 3D beauty, even if they are not actually sculptors. Although it's very rare to have this ability without sculpting skill. No matter how bright a picture is, it's flat. Volume is the main characteristic of a sculpture.
The process of sculpting tought us to see the volume. It was not so easy as we'd thought before. It seams natural to have 3D vision, if the world we live in is three-dimensional. But we see only flat images which become 3D in our imagination thanks to the ability to feel the volume. To create a sculpture you have to see it in your mind, developing patience and fightning with the temptation to be absorbed in a two-dimentional picture.
In our sculptures we express the beauty of a young model, whose body is like a precious stone, giving aesthetic pleasure, or a flower which will never fade.
The material the sculptures are made of is durable plastic. It may be not so romantic as the idea with fragility of porcelain figurines. But we don't like this idea. We think it's better not to break your favourite statuette by accident.
We also used luminiscent pigment which makes the mini statues look different at night. Ghostly glowing gives the illusion of transparence to the sculptures. So you actually see the volume.
Our first concept was creating sculptures of translucent plastic with luminiscent pigment. But white resin turned out to be more expressive at day and more transparent at night, as the lines of the figure we worked on so hard are more visible now.
